About Us

DignityUSA works for justice, equality and full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ Catholics in our Church and society.

Our Vision

DignityUSA envisions and works for a time when lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual Catholics and their allies are affirmed and experience dignity through the integration of their spirituality with their sexuality and/or gender identity and can participate fully in all aspects of life within the Church and society as beloved persons of God. We uphold anti-racism as an essential part of our ethos and recognize that every individual possesses inherent dignity by virtue of being created by God, redeemed by Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit through Baptism.

We affirm their self-acceptance and dignity, encouraging their full participation in both the Church and society.

TO THE CHURCH

We strive to develop inclusive sexual and gender theology, advocating for reform in teachings and practices related to human sexuality, gender identities, and expressions. Our goal is the full acceptance and equality of LGBTQIA+ individuals within the Church.

TO SOCIETY

We actively work for justice and equality through education and advocacy for social and legal reforms.

DignityUSA champions causes

relevant to LGBTQIA+ Catholics

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

We seek Christian maturity through sacraments, Scripture, prayer, active love for others, and meaningful participation in liturgical celebrations, including the Mass.

EDUCATION

We engage in continuous learning to deepen our faith and understanding of issues affecting our communities and integrating sexuality, gender identities, expressions, and spirituality into fulfilling lives.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Rooted in our faith, we engage in actions that embody Christ's love and promote social reform within the Church and society. This includes service to individuals, collaboration with LGBTQIA+ and other justice-oriented groups, advocacy for marginalized communities, promoting equitable access to healthcare, and challenging sexism and patriarchy.

EQUALITY ISSUES

We work to remove barriers to full personhood and promote inclusivity in liturgical and community life for all individuals, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

SOCIAL EVENTS

We provide opportunities for community and connection in an environment that fosters friendships and affirms the dignity and self-acceptance of all participants.

In all our endeavors, we are committed to advancing anti-racism, recognizing that the fight against racism is inseparable from our pursuit of justice and equality for LGBTQIA+ individuals within the Catholic Church and broader society.
