GALA Member Elected Vice-President of DignityUSA

Meli Barber (ND ’08, 10) of Indianapolis, IN has been elected Vice-President of DignityUSA. Meli’s two-year term will begin October 1, 2019.

Meli, who is a current member of DignityUSA’s Board of Directors, is also a member of Dignity Indianapolis’s Chapter leadership, represented DignityUSA during the July 2019 Global Network of Rainbow Catholics Assembly held in Chicago, IL, and was a member of the Equally Blessed Pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2019 in Panama City, Panama. She has been actively involved in witnesses surrounding the termination of and threats to married LGBT staff at Catholic schools in Indianapolis. Meli and her wife Carli manage the Catholic Worker House in the city.

DignityUSA is the world’s oldest and largest organization of Catholics committed to justice, equality and full inclusion of LGBTQI people in the church and society. It recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of events in Chicago.
