DignityUSA is Amici in Successful NJ Same-Sex Marriage Decision

Today the New Jersey Supreme Court held that committed same-sex couples must be afforded on equal terms the same rights and benefits enjoyed by opposite-sex couples under the civil marriage statutes. The name to be given to the statutory scheme that provides full rights and benefits to same-sex couples, whether marriage or some other term, is a matter left to the democratic process.

Washington, D.C. October 17, 2006 —Dignity/Washington issued an open letter to Bishop Paul S. Loverde of Arlington and Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo of Richmond that accuses the bishops of hurting, misleading and creating division among their church members by their recent pastoral letter against the proposed Virginia constitutional amendment to ban same gender marriages.
